G Fine Art will participate in the Pulse Art Fair, featuring new work by Maggie Michael. Michael's paintings and drawings are fluid, suspended worlds that pull together and apart with enticing visual energy. In one series, she layers and manipulates visceral representations of destruction, change, and renewal. Another series is iconic, both straightforward and suggestive of the corporeal and spiritual.
This duality in Michael's work connects to the back and forth of communication, the outward and inward, to relationships and the individual, living and dying, wet and dry, chaos and calm. In her paintings, Michael treats the paint skins sculpturally with pinches, puckers, gouges, cuts, stitches, rolls, and folds. Drawing is integrated into the paintings using spray paint, ink, and charcoal. Michael regards painting and drawing as physical and psychological, a place that engages control and entanglement.
At the fair, G Fine Art will have a flat file of new work by iona rozeal brown, Graham Caldwell, Linn Meyers, Barbara Probst, Lisa Marie Thalhammer and Ian Whitmore.
