For artists looking for studio spaces near DC, There are a few smaller artist studio spaces left at the Westwood Center  II off River Road.

Small studios that are available to rent. 
"It's interior space with large windows at the front that look into the shopping center. Relatively high ceilings- 9 feet I believe- and good lighting. There is heating and cooling. Utilities included. Space is set up for wifi, cable etc. It used to be a photography studio. There are several smaller rooms with doors left- 71 SF, 43 SF, 66 SF, and a larger room 116 SF as well as 84 SF storage space that can be shared. Artists can sublet one or several of the smaller rooms."-JM

"Art from South Africa: Showcasing Passion, Humanity and Diversity"


 YELLOW BARN GALLERY, GLEN ECHO PARK, MD 


Vula Amehlo Art is proud to present a visual art exhibition by 12 South African-based artists: 
Layziehound Coka, Rhona Gorvy, Jemmiro (Mozambique), Lehlogonolo Mashaba, Tshepo Masopa, Neo Matloga, Ephia Mmbidi, Pebofatso Mokoena, Petros Mwenga (Zimbabwe), Mongezi Ncaphayi, Bambo Sibiya, and John Taouss Tuyisabe (Rwanda/Uganda) 

Their wonderful and inspiring artworks include oil and acrylic paintings, charcoal and pastel drawings, ink drawings on canvas, collage (from recycled prints, traditional African textiles, etc.), original prints (etching, drypoint, linocut, aquatint, screenprints, monoprint) and multi-media work. All of these artists have participated in successful shows in South Africa and the United States (Washington and New York), as well as other countries. 

Vula Amehlo Art, founded in 2011 by Anne Gordon, aims to promote the artwork of these and other artists based in South Africa. 

Please join us on August 5th, 6th and 7th 2016 at the Yellow Barn Gallery!!! 
A reception will be held between 4 and 7 pm on Saturday, August 6th. 

The gallery hours will be Friday 6 to 8 pm, Saturday 11 am to 8 pm and Sunday 11 am to 5 pm

This show is dedicated to Rhona Gorvy, a life-long artist and humanitarian, who sadly passed away at the age of 94 in July 2016 – a huge loss to the South African arts community.
