Green Chalk Contemporary is pleased to announce “GCC/1”, the inaugural exhibition at its new space at 616 Lighthouse Avenue, New Monterey, CA. The exhibition opens on Saturday, September 7, 2013, with a reception at the gallery from 6 - 8 pm. On display will be a selection of paintings, sculpture, ceramics, photogrpahy and works on paper-- dynamic works that resound with content and tension. The exhibition will be on view through October 5, 2013.
Artists include Jerry Takigawa, Farley Gwazda, Sharron Antholt, Tom Nakashima, Rob Barnard, Raimundo Rubio, Tamiko Kawata, Laurel Farrin, Francie Hester, Ruth Bolduan, Lisa Solomon, Anne Marchand, Kristin Casaletto, William Willis, Rebecca Clark, Richard Whittaker and Indira Morre.
Green Chalk Contemporary specializes in painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, and photography. The gallery represents and champions artists from diverse cultures whose work not only illuminates important concepts and beliefs, but also expands our language of aesthetic expression.
Green Chalk works closely with Celadon Arts, the non-profit group which pairs busness with the arts and gave the Monterey Peninsula Transcendental Vision, Japanese Culture and Contemporary Art, and Joseph Campbell: The Artist’s Way working with The Japanese American Citizens League, The Joseph Campbell Foundation, Opus Archives, Sand City, The Indepent and The Carl Cherry Center for the Arts..
The Monterey Peninsula is recognized throughout the country as a place where aesthetic ideas are presented whether in music, writing, or the visual arts. Green Chalk Contemporary follows this tradition to contribute to the community that searches for and celebrates the most challenging aspects of the human condition.
