Arts on Foot

Scenes from Washington, DC's Annual Arts on Foot Festival this past weekend. This year was twice as large with dance perfomances and music scheduled throughout the day. DC Artists, Matt Sesow and Dana Ellyn are two of the artist participants exhibiting exciting new work.

Now in it's 16th year, Arts on Foot is a one-day multimedia Arts Festival, showcasing Downtown DC as the premier cultural destination in the region and kicking off the Fall Arts Season on Saturday, September 13, 2008

Produced by the Pennsylvania Quarter Neighborhood Association and the Downtown DC Business Improvement District, the event incorporates visual art, music, theatre, dance, film and creative cuisine to embrace the wide variety of cultural offerings in the area.

The Arts on Foot Art Market
is a juried bazaar that highlights the work of 70-100 local and regional visual artists including ceramics, collage, glass, le ather, metal, painting, photography, and woodworking. New for 2008: a special category for Wearable Art/Fashion. In 2007, an estimated 20,000 people visited the Outdoor Festival; many Artists who participated in a post event survey said the event was one of their most successful single sales days. Located in a bustling cultural epicenter, Arts on Foot is the anticipated and embraced celebration of all the Arts in downtown Washington, DC.

ARTS ON FOOT - APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE

Artist Applications Available - Due July 13, 2007

Artist applications are available NOW for Arts on Foot, Downtown DC's celebration of the Arts in Penn Quarter. There is no fee to apply, accepted artists will be PAID $25 to cover expenses.

Marking its 15th anniversary, Arts on Foot is one of Washington, DC's most unique celebrations. With an outdoor festival as its centerpiece, the event also highlights the numerous and varied cultural establishments and institutions in and around Penn Quarter, a central and thriving Downtown area.

With the glorious Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture as its backdrop, the festival features a juried fine arts market, a performance stage, two upscale restaurant sampling courts, a cooking demonstration area, and a cultural corridor [of galleries, theaters, museums and related "arts" organizations]. In the surrounding city blocks, visit more than 25 locations hosting performances, exhibits, interactive demonstrations, seminars, films, and book signings. And to top it off, all activities are FREE.
