Mayor's Award Finalist

Mayor's Award Finalists: "On March 22, Margery Goldberg will be honored as one of four finalists at the 25th Annual Mayor's Arts Awards in the category of Excellence in Service to the Arts, a prestigious honor conferred by the District of Columbia to individual artists, arts organizations and arts patrons. The ceremony is open to the public, at 6 PM at the Historical Society of Washington, DC at 801 K Street NW. Come early ... space is limited."

This Saturday, March 20, Ms. Goldberg will be recognized as a "Ward 4 Women in the Arts Honoree" at the 3rd Annual Women's History Month Awards Ceremony, under the auspices of Councilwoman Muriel Bowser with special guest Michelle Fenty. At that time, she will receive the "Entrepreneurship in the Arts" Award. The event, from 4-6 PM is at the Washington Ethical Society, 7750 16th Street NW, 20012. A contribution of $51 is requested to benefit Bowser's Constituent Services Fund for Ward 4 families in need of emergency services.

It's Time for the 2009 Mayor's Arts Awards Nominations!

Submit by Monday, December 15, 2008

We invite you to submit nominations for the 24th Annual Mayor’s Arts Award, the most prestigious honors conferred by the District on individual artists, organizations, and patrons of the arts. Award Categories include:

* Excellence in an Artistic Discipline An individual artist or an organization that has demonstrated a substantial history of extraordinary achievement in an artistic discipline.

* Outstanding Emerging Artist A promising individual artist or group of artists who have demonstrated excellence and achieved distinction in an artistic discipline.

* Excellence in Service to the Arts An individual or a private, public, or government organization that has demonstrated a substantial history of exemplary leadership, financial support, or other services vital to the development of the arts in the District of Columbia.

* Outstanding Contribution to Arts Education An individual or organization that has demonstrated outstanding efforts to evoke interest and understanding of the arts. Innovation in the Arts An individual or organization that has demonstrated use of skills or resources to produce art, art programs or services.

For an entry form please download the New Guidelines for 2008.* We are also happy to mail a nomination form to you. Nominations must be received at the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities office by 7 pm on Monday, December 15, 2008.

The Twenty-Third Annual Mayor's Arts Awards - DC

The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities invites you to submit nominations for the Twenty-Third Annual Mayor's Arts Awards. The Mayor's Arts Awards are the most prestigious honors conferred by the city on individual artists, organizations, and patrons of the arts. The Place to Be

The place to be Monday night was the crowded Kennedy Center Concert Hall, where D.C. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities presented the 22nd annual Mayor's Arts Awards, including a special-recognition honor to longtime TV theater and film critic Arch Campbell.
