Sondheim Artscape Prize: 2010 Finalists

Finalists Exhibition will be shown in the Alvin and Fanny B. Thalheimer Galleries of the BMA on Saturday, June 19 through Sunday, August 1.
In conjunction with Artscape, Baltimore’s premier arts festival organized by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, the BMA presents a special exhibition of works by the finalists for the Janet & Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize. This year's finalists are: Leah Cooper, Ryan Hackett, Matthew Janson, Nate Larson, Christopher LaVoie, Matthew Porterfield, and Karen Yasinsky.
Named after the late Baltimore civic leader Walter Sondheim and his late wife, Janet, the Sondheim Prize recognizes the achievements of visual artists living or working in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and southeastern Pennsylvania.
The semi-finalists, finalists, and winner are all chosen by an independent panel of jurors. This year’s jurors are: Robert Nickas, an independent New York-based curator, writer and art critic; Magdalena Sawon, owner and director of New York’s Postmasters Gallery; and Hamza Walker, director of education and associate curator of the Renaissance Society at The University of Chicago. The finalists were announced on April 13.
