International Holocaust Remembrance Day
Resistance through Art
Art fulfils many purposes, not the least of which is to bring public awareness to social, political and cultural injustices. One of the greatest human injustices of all time was the Holocaust. April 7th, 2013 marks the official observation of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, with commemorative events taking place across the country.
The NVJCC begins the day's observation with the official opening of a group show entitled Resistance Through Art. Local artist Lilianne Milgrom is exhibiting a photographic series inspired by her mother, a Holocaust survivor. The series portrays the artist with her mother's concentration camp prison tattoo projected on her own person. Milgrom will also be one of the keynote speakers at the event.
