Call to artist for the Deanwood Recreation Center public art project

Deanwood Recreation Center Public Art Opportunity

Budget:           $200,000

Deadline:         Friday, December 3, 2010 at 5:30pm.

The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) seeks an artist or artist team with significant 3-dimensional experience to design, fabricate and install permanent public artwork for the new Deanwood Recreation Center, in Washington, DC. Deanwood is located in the District's Northeast quadrant and is one of the District’s oldest and proudest neighborhoods.

The selected artist(s) will be required to collaborate with local artist, Amber Robles-Gordon. Ms. Gordon was selected through a peer panel selection process to serve as the apprentice to the selected artist for this project. Ms. Gordon will be a valuable asset to the selected artist and serve as a liaison to the community. Ms. Gordon is a mixed media artist and the goal for her participation in this project is to collaborate on the design and fabrication of the artwork and to build her capacity as a public artist.
