by Aaron Johnson and Barnaby Whitfield, Don’t Be Scared, You’re Supposed to Be
May 1 – June 5.

This extraordinary exhibition is the result of an artistic friendship and a personal dialog about being artists intensely engaged in new directions for painting. In addition to meetings and conversations in New York, the artists would often text and email each other images of works in progress, and begin cross referencing themes and details. For Johnson and Whitfield, the personal quickly became shared understanding launched into the larger public conversation about painting and the contemporary American psyche.
