Opening Reception, 3/25, Ryan McCoy's "Paintings"

Ryan McCoy presents a new series of paintings, which have evolved out of his previous body of work. For ten years, he structured time, place, and memory through materials such as pine needles, ash, sea water, rust, and baby powder. In his new work, he maintains his iconic, geometric margins but removes the materials of the past and reconnects with paint and color to deal with the present. The resulting paintings evoke the ways in which we navigate and compartmentalize relationships in a search for balance and harmony.
