Every artist has a definition of source; all little pools of the personal that seek to flow towards a larger body; to somehow return to an undifferentiated unity from which the familiar can resonate. Source can be one that creates; a maker, or that which supplies information; a source code. Source can be a point at which substance springs into being or the energy input point of a system. Nature as refuge from the artificial constructs of civilization is always present as source. It is from a natural source that humanity has diversified creating competition and inventing technologies that have brought with them global problems of massive proportions.

* Pat Goslee lives and works in Washington, DC. She received a BFA in graphic design from the University of Georgia and an MFA in painting from Catholic University. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Washington Arts Museum (WAM) and the DC Arts Center (DCAC), and the Advisory Committee for International Arts & Artists' Hillyer Art Space. She has been a visiting artist lecturer at local institutions including American University and the Corcoran Collage of Art + Design.
