Berlin Mitte: Lost Images explores the architectural cityscape of East Berlin, Germany. Having grown up in a divided Berlin, Day returned in 1996 after the fall of the Berlin Wall to photograph the city's former Communist sector. He revisits locations of his childhood and documents the changes in the urban and industrial landscapes during a period of redevelopment. The exhibit highlights a selection of photographs chosen by the Washington City Paper as the Photography Exhibit of the Year in 2004.

Boston Properties, Inc., and Jean Efron Art Consultants LLC, are pleased to announce an exhibition, in the lobby of 505 9th Street, NW, of works on paper by West Coast artist Etsuko Ichikawa. The exhibition of glass pyrographs, created by imprinting molten glass onto paper, is open to the public during building lobby hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. from April 11, 2008 through July 9, 2008. The public is invited to the opening reception and artist talk on April 17th from 5:30 – 7 p.m. The artist will talk about her work at 6 p.m.
Etsuko Ichikawa was born and raised in Japan and has lived in the United States for the last decade. Defining influences for her work are her dual cultures and psychology.
Her work is a continuing investigation of what lies between the ephemeral and the eternal. Recent series of work, Deai (encounter), Funiki (atmosphere), and Kokoro (feeling), are examples of creating something tangible from abstraction. As a result, the works are dynamic, yet subtle, and visually organic.
Some of the materials that Etsuko works with are molten glass, plastic, and thread. The scale of work ranges from small two dimensional work on paper to large site-specific installations. Her “glass pyrograph” drawings are made by imprinting hot glass onto paper, capturing and eternalizing the immediacy of a moment.
