CM Dupré Artist Talk / Alice Exhibit

CM Dupré

through mid-September 2010

CM Dupré Artist Talk during Alice Exhibit on August 25, 7:00 - 9:00 pm

In CM Dupré's Alice series' (both the first and second series of paintings are featured in her current Alice exhibit at The Art League Gallery at National Harbor) she deciphers Alice in her different stages of life, from childhood to adulthood. Fascinated by the character of "Alice" and who and what she represents, Dupré philosophically, psychoanalytically, and sociologically explores Alice's curiosity and imagination, her iconography, her ability to transform and inspire, and her pervasive existence. “Alice” is in all of us, or is she?

CM Dupré will talk about her work and painting technique on Wednesday, August 25 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.  Alice is featured at The Art League Gallery at National Harbor, located at 120 American Way, Oxon Hill, MD 20745.

The Art League Gallery at National Harbor Hours: Wednesday - Friday, 12:00 noon - 7:00 pm
Saturday - Sunday, 12:00 noon - 6:00 pm

Ann, thanks. This is nicely written, and I hope to fulfill everything mentioned including the new direction for paint (developing with immense cloud bursts rain bursts thought bursts in my foraging mind, and taken from various writings/images/historical notations in Renaissance Italy) which includes the shadow and filigreed trace of Alice's critical intrusions, and leaves her to monitor my next moves. She's gotten wise beyond her years, even into her death, so I've got to be cognizant, somewhat in awe, of her and Herman Rapaport (the theorist), and even of Nicholas of Cusa, who amazes me and my dedicated sense of the present. Best to you, Carol Dupre
