Linda Plaisted, Red, 2008, Pandora's Box Series

Linda Plaisted, At Liberty, 2006, Four and Twenty Blackbirds Series

Linda Plaisted is a classically-trained American painter, photographer and mixed media artist who has exhibited her work in galleries and museums throughout North America.

Her work is held in private collections worldwide and the corporate collections of such companies as Mastercard International, McGraw- Hill, CVS/Caremark, and Marc Jacobs. You have seen her images on book and magazine covers and art and design web sites such as Daily Candy, Design*Sponge, IndieLove, Apartment Therapy, Viewville, 15x100, Velocity Art & Design and many more.

Each piece of artwork she creates is layered by hand with images she has captured in her photographs, drawings, paintings and collected ephemera to create collage pieces with depth and detail. Her delight in nature and unique ability to conjure mood from the simplest of compositions is evident in her work, leaving us with a bittersweet view of what remains.

Linda is working on a new series of large contemporary figurative paintings on canvas with the working title "Catalogue." She states that the "pieces are based on the brightly-colored and patterned frocks and sportswear seen in high-end lifestyle catalogs, where one is buying not just the "Linen Riviera Shift Dress" but the implied mystique underlying the persuasive purple catalog copy. The headless figures have been closely-cropped to reveal the underlying attitudes in the angles and interactions between the perfect limbs of the models and their idyllic environments."
