Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival Hits 20

Largest Regional Fine Arts Festival Announces 20th Anniversary Weekend Celebration

Art lovers of all ages will fill the streets in May when the 20th Annual Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival returns to the Reston Town Center the weekend of May 21 & 22, 2011.  Non-profit art center the Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE) whose mission is to enrich individual and community life by promoting involvement and excellence in the visual arts, is the producer of the largest, top-rated annual art festival in the Washington Metropolitan area.  The juried festival attracts over 50,000 patrons from across the region and provides a personal, interactive experience to view, purchase, and experience art directly from the unique and talented artists featured. 

The popular festival celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year will offer plenty to see, taste, hear and do - from hand crafted, one of a kind artwork, a host of live musical and visual performance arts, artist demonstrations, acclaimed children’s activities, and superb food and refreshments.  Artist categories include oil, acrylic, watercolor painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, jewelry, metal, textiles, leather, wood furniture, photography and ceramics.  Throughout the weekend, there will be a variety of special activities that will celebrate this major anniversary for festival visitors to enjoy.

“The 20th Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival promises to be the best ever," said John Alciati, President & CEO of GRACE. "In addition to 200-plus exhibiting artists, this year’s festival will include a variety of events honoring artists, volunteers, patrons, and arts and cultural groups and other organizations who were instrumental to the festival’s success over the past 20 years.” 

The festival is free and open to the public however a voluntary donation of $10 to GRACE at the events ArtCarts, individuals will receive a $10 gift certificate to dine at participating Reston Town Center restaurants.  Donation proceeds benefit year round educational and outreach programs, including Art in the Schools and Explore More! Programs produced by GRACE.

GRACE will kick off the weekend festivities with a Preview Night Party on Friday, May 20 from 7-10 p.m. for sponsors, media, donors and the local art lovers.  The exciting art-filled evening features a fine art auction and the opportunity for first choice art purchases from award winning artists.
